Feline Friday: Super Cats Weathered Sandy

Dear Gentle Readers,

At BaxterBoo.com, we’ve been concerned about our furry and non-furry friends on the East Coast and the catastrophic storm they’ve been through this week. I have heart for the stray cat populations because of my own experience of not knowing where my forever home would be… not once, but twice. So I am pleased to give you an update on some of these cats in the affected areas. Continue reading

Feline Fridays: Circus Cats!

Dear Gentle Readers,

It’s the 12th Day of Dogtober… I can’t hardly even choke out that word, it’s so overdone! So I’m renaming it Catober! It is Feline Friday, after all!

I do, however, approve of today’s Circus theme. The reason for that is that there are simply dozens of videos of cats in circuses that I’m dying to show you! And not just my big cat cousins either. Continue reading

Feline Fridays: The Proud History of Storybook Cats

Dear Gentle Readers,

It’s the 5th Day of Dogtober, (I never signed off on that name, by the way) and BaxterBoo.com is doing a tribute to storybook characters. You may have noticed all that silliness with a castle, a prince, a princess, and a frog. I have to ask… where are the stories and tributes to cats? We’re lucky to have a black cat show up in one of the graphics for Halloween, and that is just so cliche. If I have anything to do with it, a cat will be making an appearance in our Dogtober themes!

This omission made me realize that I need to do a better job of educating our public. Cats have always held a prominent spot in literature, and well-known authors have said wonderful things about us, even going so far as to claim we are Muses. Continue reading

Feline Friday: Finally! Cats Get Their Own Film Fest!

Dear Gentle Readers,

We cats rule the Internet. We are YouTube sensations. It was just a matter of time before we were given the recognition we deserve as artists and actors. We know you feel guilty about hiding in your cubicles watching us, hoping your coworkers don’t see… Continue reading

From the Desk of Ms. Boo: How to Help Your Human Get Ready to Travel

Dear Gentle Readers,

Mistress Mary is all stressed out. She gets this way when she has to go out into the big world. And it is a scary world out there… I really don’t blame her. I took a flying leap over one of my dog siblings who was being let outside (I was imagining I was a superhero) and found myself unexpectedly out the door.

I was so freaked out, I spent the day under the deck while she was at work. The boys tried to coax me out, but Ms. Mary makes me feel the safest, ever since that day I melted into her arms at the shelter. I wasn’t going to come out until she got me. That experience was enough to let me know that staying home is best, unless she takes me to work, of course. I love going to BaxterBoo. I mean, they need me. Who else will test out the best kitty toys?

Anyway, back on topic… Ms. Mary is going on vacation. To some strange place called Alaska. I prefer not to go. Too cold. Too wet. It seems their best feature is salmon, and I hope she brings me back some! That would make a delightful belated birthday present (after all, I just turned 1 on July 21!) Continue reading

Why Cats are Better than People, by Ms. Bella Boo

Mistress Mary has come home a bit dejected again. I have no idea where she goes sometimes. She is somewhat mysterious and cat like, never sharing her adventures. I surmise that her interactions with more of her kind are a mixed bag, so I would like to make it clear, humans, that cats are generally superior company.

Let me lay it out for you in plain terms so there can be no doubt… Continue reading

June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month!

This is me with my other adopted sister Cali.

How perfect is it that the first day in June would fall on a Feline Friday?! It’s destiny, I tell you! And it gives me the chance to talk about something that is very near and dear to my heart: Adoption. Specifically, the adoption of shelter cats. See, folks, I myself have been adopted from from a shelter… twice. I consider myself very lucky… blessed even! Because I know that thousands of cats are euthanized every year because there just simply aren’t enough homes for all of us.

So in honor of National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, I’ve compiled some lists to show that cats are suitable for all kinds of situations! Continue reading

Feline Fridays: From the Desk of Ms. Boo – Dating Disaster Averted!

Dear Gentle Readers,

As you know, we cats are masters of observation. My mistress, Mary, has been acting a bit peculiar. Yesterday she was seen grooming herself excessively, and we cats interpret that as a ploy of self assurance and is even a self-soothing behavior. This was confirmed when I brought her her favorite toy (the Kong Swizzle Teaser) and she didn’t even notice! She was definitely nervous. Perhaps I am guilty of being cathropomorphic, attributing feline emotions to my human, but one of the reasons I think we get along so well is that we have similar personalities. We just click! Feline Fridays: From the Desk of Ms. Boo

Dear Gentle Readers,

Baxter, as wonderful as he is, is a bit of a narcissist and has made our website much too dog-centric. I’ve been patient, but seeing Baxter globetrotting and bringing back mere trinkets for me… well, let’s just say cats should never scrape for crumbs, especially when we have surpassed dogs in human ownership!  And, hello, cats rule the Internet! Don’t feel guilty about it… we know how many hours you’ve spent watching our hypnotizing antics on YouTube.

To counteract the blatant dog/cat discrepancy on the BaxterBoo.com site, I, Lady Boo am going to be taking the helm of buying and featuring new, magnificent products for discriminating cat enthusiasts. Continue reading
