According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the city has tried various laws and programs to deal with this widespread problem. NJ “Click It or Ticket” Law Applies to Pets Too

Pet owners and non-pet owners alike have their dander up over a new law that went into effect in the Garden State. New Jersey police can stop a vehicle with an improperly restrained pet and issue a ticket ranging from $250-$1,000 and be subjected to a disorderly conduct offense under animal-cruelty laws. Fines for humans not being properly restrained are $46, according to a New Jersey government website. Continue reading

Wellness Wednesday: Is Your Pet Food Safe?

There have been extensive pet food recalls in the last month for salmonella contamination. As of late, 16 people have also gotten sick from handling tainted pet food, infected pets, and/or coming into contact with contaminated pet feces. Diamond Pet Foods has expanded their recall list 8 times to include 39 states, and now their website has a vague reference to cat food being affected as well. In fact, two cats have died and another is ill at a shelter in Montreal, Canada after ingesting Diamond-brand cat food. Continue reading

You Won’t Believe What This Sweet Yorkie Mamma Is Doing!

Bridget, a 10-year-old Yorkshire Terrier delivered two puppies by C-section at the Humane Society in Utah that, unfortunately, did not survive. On a whim, an employee decided to introduce her to a litter of kittens with a missing mother. Apparently a mother’s love knows no bounds!
