Cats will be cats. It really doesn’t matter that I posted a lovely blog outlining the brilliant ways to keep cats safe during the holidays, and especially how to keep them out of trees. I was feeling rather smug that my cats are so well behaved and “trained” only to find Ms. Boo about halfway up my 9′ tree!

What are the holidays without the classic, slightly silly sweaters? Actually, my teenage daughter specifically goes to thrift stores for “ugly” sweaters to complete her holiday look. The tackier the better! I wouldn’t go so far as to say ours are tacky, but putting a dog or even a cat in a sweater is sure to make a statement and the season toasty and bright!

As I was shopping at the local mall and generally overwhelmed by the mass of holiday shoppers, I was pleased to have a friendly young woman chat with me as she rang up my purchases. I commiserated with her about the stress of dealing with the masses through the holiday season, but she said it was nothing compared to getting through college finals and balancing a job in retail through the busiest time of the year.
Pets give us joy any time of year, but they also pick up on the extra excitement of the season and provide an extra boost of gladness. Now that pets have an unprecedented place in our families, they are being featured in holiday photos and get their own accessories to participate in the celebrations.
